October is Squash Appreciation Month

Other than the ubiquitous Butternut Squash, and the odd culinary pumpkin around Halloween, squash is notoriously hard to find in great variety in British supermarkets. I am not entirely sure why they are not stocked more widely, but one of the main reasons is that I think most people don’t realise how versatile they are.

In an effort to improve their popularity, I am going to do a month of recipes throughout October here at Mutherfudger, showcasing some of my favourite squash dishes. One of the best things about this is, with the exception of Spaghetti Squash, most squash can be substituted for another, so there are no excuses.

So check back over the next few weeks for a mixture of sweet and savoury dishes, and look out for the #SquashAppreciationMonth hashtag on social media.
