Belgium Waffles

Ingredients

  • 120ml Warm Water
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar
  • 2¼ teaspoons Instant Yeast
  • 480ml Milk
  • 110g Unsalted Butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 250g Plain Flour
  • 2 Large Free-range Eggs (lightly beaten)
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ teaspoon Baking Powder

Directions

1. The night before, or at least 8 hours before required, combine the warm water with the sugar, and add the yeast
2. Allow the yeast to bloom for 10 minutes
3. Stir in the warmed milk, melted butter and salt
4. Add in the flour and mix until smooth
5. Cover top of bowl in cling film and leave in refrigerator over night, or on the counter top for 6-8 hours
6. Pre-heat your waffle iron
7. While the waffle iron is heating, add in the eggs, baking powder and vanilla extract and mix through
8. Use the measured scoop and pour into waffle iron and bake as per manufacturers instructions
9. Repeat with remaining batter, keeping made waffles warm in a low oven
