Back To The Future Cookies for Parkinsons Charities

madnad

I am taking a little break from the squash recipes today to tell you about some cookies I made for charity.

As a big fan of the Back To The Future movies, and of their lead actor, Michael J Fox, it was unthinkable to allow Future Day to go by unacknowledged.

What is Future Day? In the second movie, Marty McFly travels forward in time to 2015, October 21st at 4.29pm to be precise. Something needs to be done about his kids.

When did this all start? A couple of months ago, Michelle from Sweet Petite put a call out to bakers around the world to do cookies or cakes in a Back To The Future theme, and sell them or raffle them on October the 21st for Parkinsons charities.

Why Parkinsons charities? Actor Michael J Fox was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease back in 1999. He has since then became a strong advocate for Parkinsons charities and even heads his own foundation, The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research.

Where can I get more information about this collaboration? We have named the collaboration Bake To The Future, and you can find pictures from other contributors on the Bake To The Future Blog, or you can keep up to date with news on Facebook or Twitter.

Can I buy cookies from you? Sadly not. I was offering cookies in exchange for a donation on my JustGiving page, but the deadline has passed though.

Can I still donate? YES! Absolutely! You can check out the Bake To The Future blog and see if anyone is still selling cookies, or you can just donate to my JustGiving page, and get warm and fuzzies for knowing you have done a good thing!

I raised £205 in donations, with a further £46.25 going to Parkinsons UK in gift aid. Thank you to all who donated.

Here are the pictures of the ones I made.
