This Sunday, May 19th, is an auspicious day for all home bakers – it’s World Baking Day!

The campaign started last year, and I shall be baking something myself this year. Last year’s event kickstarted a hashtag on twitter, #caking. The idea was that you baked a cake, placed it somewhere interesting and tweeted a photo of it with the hashtag #caking.

You don’t have to bake anything grand, just bake! The World Baking Day website encourages you to bake brave, to try and bake something that is a bit of a challenge. The site is full of ideas and recipes, but feel free to stick to what you are comfortable with if you prefer.

I shall be baking cupcakes. Now, I realise that doesn’t sound like much of a challenge, but I am more used to baking big. I like my cakes full size, so having the patience to decorate something I can scoff in three bites (ok … two bites) will be a bit of a challenge

Take pictures of what you have made, and post them on my Facebook page and I will create a gallery folder so everyone to see your handy work.
